3D printing is the process of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. 3D printing is achieved using additive processes: an object is created by laying down successive layers of material. 3D printing is considered distinct from traditional machining techniques, which mostly rely on the removal of material by drilling, cutting etc.

Q2 : What is STL file format?
STL (Standard Tessellation Language) is a file format native to the stereolithography CAD software created by 3D Systems. This file format is widely used for rapid prototyping and computer-aided manufacturing. STL files describe only the surface geometry of a three dimensional object, without any representation of color, texture or other common CAD model attributes.
An STL file approximates the shape of a part or assembly using triangular facets. Smaller facets produce a higher quality surface. |
